How sad is it that I got really excited when I found half a bag of stale lemon drops in the back of my desk drawer this afternoon?
Snacks the day before payday are pretty disappointing.

Why do public buildings insist on over-air-conditioning? Is there some smell they're trying to stave off by keeping the offending element frozen? I live in Southern California, where it's almost always 75 degrees. It's the heat of August and I'm wearing a long sleeve shirt and a heavy scarf. I'm up to a stash of two sweaters, a fleece, and a turtleneck in my desk. Even more, it's a Flex Alert day, which means reducing energy consumption by turning energy wasters (like air conditioning, fans, and computers) off. I need to hunt down the thermostat...

One of the hardest things about the new(ish--I've been here 7 months now!) job is that I had to go back to being a web site civilian. At my old job, I was on three web committees and had rights to almost every page. Now, everything I do has to go through someone else. And while the web person is really friendly and easy to interact with, I just want to put my stuff up myself, damn it. I'm suddenly understanding why so many "innovators" have to go around their locked down web pages and put up wikis or personal blogs or off-site web sites!

I'm working on my Emerging Leaders application because, well, I feel obligated to live up to my over-achieving next-gen librarian potential. I'm pretty sure I just wrote a sentence saying that I want a codependent relationship and for the organization to push me around... Oh ALA, beat me, beat me! I love it when you hurt me!
